I offer a no obligation quote service. I will need to discuss with you what type of cake/decoration you would like and I can then prepare the quote free of charge and with no obligation.

As I hand make all flowers and decorations specific to each order I generally need at least 2 weeks notice of an order, often more.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. This page may answer some of your initial questions …

Cake types

I have over thirty years experience of baking cakes and I have a variety of tried and tested recipes. Popular choices are lemon,  chocolate and salted caramel, fruit cake and Victoria Sponge. I can also make certain special-diet cakes, such as sugar-free sponge cakes, egg-free chocolate cake and gluten-free chocolate cake. I am very happy to try out new recipes or types of cake, so if you have a particular request just let me know. If I am using a new recipe I try it out several times before using it for a client (to the delight of my family and friends!).

The total cost of the cake depends on a variety of factors, including cake type, size, floral decoration and set-up costs. As an individual I don’t have the high overhead costs of a large business so I can keep costs as low as possible. However, these are bespoke cakes, and as such they are more expensive than ‘off the shelf’ cakes.

As a guide to price, a basic 8 inch sponge cake starts at £50. To this, the cost of making the flowers & foliage, the decorating costs and setup costs need to be added. For flowers, the total cost will depend on type of flower and how many flowers. Decorating costs are charged at the ingredient cost (fondant/ganache etc) plus decorating time (heavily dependent on size and shape of cake). Set-up costs will depend on the complexity of the cake design.

As all these factors and costs need to be taken into account I do need to have a discussion with a client before being able to provide an idea of price. As a rough guide cakes tend to come out in these price ranges, although it depends on the above factors…

Round cakes with flowers, 8 inch £70-£100, 10 inch £90 – £130

Christmas cakes, from £60 – £80

Two-tiered cakes, £160 – £250, three-tiered cakes, from £270-£330, four-tiered cakes from £350

As I hand make all flowers and decorations specific to each order I generally need at least 2 weeks notice of an order, sometimes longer.

Delivery and setup

I deliver for free to local areas. For locations further afield I need to charge a delivery cost to cover petrol and time – how much depends on the exact location. Alternatively, cakes can be collected.

Some cakes, for example wedding cakes, benefit from on-site set-up, as sugarpaste flowers are delicate and can get damaged if transported already attached to the cake. I do charge for set-up time – how much depends on the complexity of the cake but will usually be a minimum of 1 hour of time. If setting up the cake for a client I liaise directly with the venue to cover all the arrangements.

Health & Safety
